This kind of net is traditionally the most widely used all over the world for trawl fishing because it is lightweight, it has a low price and it is more difficult for sea vegetation to attack it. Over the last few years the need was felt to replace the traditional nets in twisted twine with nets made of braided twine. The latter are more lightweight than the former since they need less material to achieve the same diameter of twine, they are more reliable and secure in the correct fixing of the knot, and they are easier to repair in the event of breakages (which is often the case in trawl fishing).
